Long before Harry, there was Beatrix.
Beatrix Potter’s tales feature a delightful collection of
animals, including the mischievous Peter Rabbit who was originally
sketched in a letter to the son of her governess in 1893.
Beatrix Potter has now been brought to life on the big screen
in Miss Potter. Best known for her Peter Rabbit
books, Beatrix was also a botanical scientist and illustrator
who recorded her daily thoughts in secret code. She would
go on to become a farmer and sheep breeder, in addition to
having written her much-loved children's books.
Peter Rabbit was privately printed in 1901 and again in 1902
before being published by the company who later went on to
publish all her subsequent picture books, Frederick Warne.
We have showcased here just a small selection of our current
stock that are of special interest at the moment.
